Why Colors Are So Important When Selling Your Home

Selling homes in this market is already a difficult task. This task is made even more difficult when sellers do not know how to use aspects of their home to their advantage; or when sellers do not know what needs to be changed about their home to make it more desirable.
The biggest reason that people find it difficult to understand how to best market their homes is because the media through which homes for sale are advertised has changed very quickly. It used to be that one had to see a home in person in order to decide to buy it. Now, however, all homes for sale are listed on the internet and therefore, the way a buyer perceives room size, decorations and most importantly wall color is very different.
A bright blue bedroom used to be something easily understood and buyers could imagine their young son living there...during the days when people's first encounter with the house was in person. However, seeing such a bold color online where it is hard to imagine standing inside the room itself, is a discombobulating experience and many people just click to the next house on sale.
This is why colors are so important when you decide "I want to sell my house
". Consider that when people are looking at houses on sale online, your goal is to make them want to call their realtor and say "I want to see this house in person". This becomes an impossible task if you have strange colored wall paper (or wall paper at all) covering your living room. Or if you kitchen is a bright, overwhelming shade of red.
It is understandable that everyone has their own style and color preferences. However, coloring of the walls is like art and you cannot pick out art for someone else, especially when it is in the form of a harsh, overpowering solid color that will surround the person from all sides. For example, when I decided that I wanted to sell my house
, the best thing I did was to re-paint the walls of all the rooms with overwhelming and bright colors. I painted the rooms neutral and soft shades of beige, ivory and soft coral.
I am convinced that that is the reason People became interested in my house as quickly as they did. Know that these soft colors will not only make your rooms look bigger, brighter and friendlier but they will also be rooms where your customer can imagine him or herself building their own lives. Of course, a similar concept goes with floors and tiles. Keep them neutral, simple and something someone else would consider an almost a canvas for their own decorations and home art.
